Add HSQL Driver to an Existing Project

HSQLDB is a popular relational database engine that supports both server and embedded modes as well as disc-based and in-memory tables. JDBCDriver in its turn provides interface implementation as per JDBC specs. More info on HSQL is available at the official website.

If you want to add HSQL driver to an existing project, go to Project > Datasource. In a new window, click on the + icon to add a new datasource. Here, you need to focus on:

  • HSQL driver class name, which is
org.hsqldb.jdbcDriver
  • URL, which is
jdbc:hsqldb:file:[location of a file]

for example

jdbc:hsqldb:file:db/lastaccess
  • password: ‘sa‘ by default

To use HSQLDB driver, add the following dependency to pom.xml file:

    <dependency>
      <groupId>org.hsqldb</groupId>
      <artifactId>hsqldb</artifactId>
      <version>2.2.6</version>
    </dependency>
